MRA TAKES IT TO THE WEB
Several members and followers, especially those who have never even been exposed to the web, have questioned the practicality and cost benefits of a web page for this organization. Following is a list of some of the short and long-term benefits expected and/or being realized today.
Benefits
- Provides members and enthusiasts timely and historical updates on tournament results. This data can also be used to determine seasonal patterns.
- Improve communications and collaboration amongst members.
- Reduces administrative costs (e.g. by utilizing electronic distribution of newsletters, tournament results, forms, etc.).
- Provides members, sponsors and the public with readily available fishing information and/or links, including important information on local reservoirs.
- The web provides another forum to promote our sponsors and the organization - and beyond our "normal" boundaries.
Costs
We incur the standard costs of hosting a basic site on the internet. However, because all development and maintenance of the site is done for FREE "in-house", by some of our own members, we are able to deliver a professional site which would otherwise be untouchable, requiring significant funding.
