Well, the team of Godwin/Walker just can't seem to have a smooth tourney for the 2015 MRA Tourney Trail. We are finding every way to go backwards it seems.
Sunday at Prettyboy was a tough day as evidenced by the low weights. This body of water fishes much better than what was brought to the scales IMO.
During the week prior to the tourney I told Bobby and Chad I was on 12lb bags and was hoping for 10th place. Take away one more catastrophic error that's exactly what we had. We caught about 18 fish with roughly 14 of them being keepers. Given the conditions of 0mph wind and dirty water it was tough fishing but we made the most of it. Here comes the error...
Apparently when we finished up our Liberty tourney I did not completely close the valve on my oxygen bottle for the livewell. Soooo, early on in the tourney we had 0 oxygen for the fish and I must of refreshed the livewell water 7 times throughout the day to manage the fish the best I could. We had some smallmouth that just couldnt' take the stress and we did lose them and that freaking sucks! Thank the Lord, at the end of the day we were able to catch 3 near the end of the tourney to replace a few dead ones and not hurt ourselves too bad.
LESSON: If you have the oxygenization system be sure to close the valve on your tank completely.
CONGRATULATIONS to the teams of ELLIOTT/RINI, BERTAZON/BROADWATER and WOLFIE/WAINO! Very impressive for such a tough day!
