When it all comes together.

It would be easy to say how everything worked as planned after a tournament win,but after a 6th place finish, really? Yes really. There are a few times when you just make all the right decisions. I have had a couple of tournament wins where I can say everything worked as planned. I have also won a few where I stumbled upon a pattern or a lucky break here and there, which I happily accepted. Usually after a tournament loss I always think what should I have done that day to to give us a better chance to win! After Sunday's tournament I did not have to lament my woes. We had a good plan and adapted to the conditions as well! Had a few spots that were my normal routine, then after getting a limit early,we decided to try something different to improve our weight. On our way back to that area we decided to try jerk baits on a windy flat. Bang! 2 more better quality fish!
Then to the back of the creek which yielded 3 upgrades!! Then off to take the same pattern deeper to further upgrade our fish. This offered up our best fish of the day 3.58lbs. After close to 30 keepers we decided to head back close to the ramp and hit one last "hot spot" and on the second cast another 3lbr!! So even though we were nowhere close to the win, it was as close to the perfect planned tournament as it could be. Those I will always enjoy. ( but not as much as a win). See you on the water!!
