It is that time of year again, the water is warming and the bass are beginning to move up. Some anglers don't fish for bedding fish, which is great. They will fish out deeper for prespawn fish. I do find it hard to resist when I see that big bass on a bed. Some things I do to give that fish a chance is put a time limit when bed fishing. 5 minutes per bed , if you don't catch it,the fish wins. Fish every other bed. And when you do catch that big bass, Do not fish for it again during the spawn. It only counts as one fish. It might sound great when you tell your buddies "I caught 2- 5 lb. bass " three straight weekends. But you will wear that ONE fish out. Enjoy this special time of the year. Good luck.

This is the best time to introduce someone new to fishing. Maryland's free fishing days are the first two Saturday's in June and also the 4th of July. No fishing license required but otherwise observe all fishing laws and regulations. http://www.dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/. Every year I try to take someone new to see what I enjoy; whether it is catching fish or seeing a bald eagle or just the solitude of the day. And hopefully they will enjoy it as well.

The website gets better every day. Thanks Craig and all contributors. There is good information to be found here. I will try to help by adding some tips and tricks in the forum section to help new anglers as well as experienced anglers. Anything that could help the fish or the fisherman would be beneficial. As members of the MRA we all could help out with our own " useful information."
