Registrations are complete and the first annual national championship for electric bass anglers is up and running. Seven clubs from 4 states have been invited, and are competing, in the 2017 inaugural season. Baltimore Metro Reservoir Anglers is the Host club, and is providing the National Tournament Director services. Elco Motor Yachts, the founding sponsor, is providing the championship 1st place prize of an ELCO EP-20 electric outboard, valued at over $4800.
Results from several events have already been submitted. This championship represents a significant first step forward in growing the stage on which electric bass anglers compete. This, and future, National Championships will provide new and exciting opportunities for electric bass anglers.
Participating clubs are:
Baltimore Metro Reservoir Anglers, Inc., Maryland
High Voltage Bass Anglers, Georgia
Dixie Jon Boat Anglers, Georgia
Jon Boat Bass Club of NC, North Carolina
Jon Boat Championship Club, North Carolina
Electric Elite Invitationals, Ohio
KSU LaDo! Bass Series, Ohio
Good luck to all competitors.
Thanks go out to our sponsor Elco Motor Yachts!

I was checking out all of their websites and noticed most of the clubs start tournament fishing in Feb. For the most part they are all roughly around the same size clubs. Also all these clubs are fishing a limit of 5 per team.

Regional philosophies.
It's really interesting when you look at the clubs & their regional philosophies. The majority of the clubs have a 5 fish limit. It is also interesting that those clubs with 5 fish limits, have tournaments throughout the bass spawn. Personally, I am pleased that the State of MD protects spawning bass and doesn't allow tournament fishing during the spawn. I know that all of our competing clubs place strict penalties for poor fish care.
The National Championship is interesting, in that the scoring system allows for all participating clubs to be unrestricted in their event scheduling. Several of the clubs will have completed their 5 Championship events long before our club has finished our season.
See you on the water Mel.
