Membership and tournament registration.
During our recent board meeting, it came to my attention that there are prospective members who are under the impression that it is mandatory to register for all 6 regular season tournaments, if they are to be members in good standing of our club. It is common for all of our members to fish all of our regular season tournaments. However, it is not mandatory. If a prospective team knows they won’t be able to fish in any tournament(s) in the upcoming season, they have two options.
Option 1: The team can choose to not register and not pay the entry fees for the tournament(s) they will miss. The team will receive no AOY points for those particular tournaments.
Option 2: The team can choose to pay the entry fees for the tournament(s) they will miss. If they choose this option, the team would receive last place AOY points for the tournament(s) they miss. Note: An MRA board member must be notified in advance that the team will not fish in a particular tournament.
Tournament registration fees are due prior to June 1st. Therefore teams must make this decision prior to June 1st.
I hope this clarifies the issue. Hope to see you at our Annual meeting on February 22nd.

Walt, thanks for the clarification.
I wanted to add that if 1 member of the team can fish any given tourney that member may choose to (1) fish by himself (2) fish with a substitute.
Thanks Ian
Thanks Ian
That is correct. A competitor that chooses to fish alone will have a limit of only 5 fish, instead of the standard 8 fish limit. This is done to remain in compliance with Maryland creel limits.
