Tis the season , Happy Holidays to all. I was thinking what I would like to see for the upcoming year under my Christmas tree. Here are a few ideas. 8 fish limit all metro tournaments. Tournament Lunker. In 30 years of tournament fishing I never have won that. Probably need to size up my baits to 5" . And why not Angler of the Year, this of course what we all fish for. What is on your Christmas fishing list. Can't wait till next season. Merry Christmas.

I would like to catch more
I would like to catch more than 1 keeper at Loch Raven in a tournament....less or no pickerel....maybe be on Don's substitute list.....seriously, a first place finish would be nice. That is something I have never been a part of.

Christmas List:
Christmas Wish List:
1) One more year out of my batteries, (not going to happen).
2) GPS coordinates for two hot spots from each of the top 5 MRA teams, loaded on a new Humminbird side scan unit. (If that is too much to ask, it doesn’t have to be wrapped.)
3) Another day on the water in 2012.
4) No ice on the reservoirs in March 2013, or any year.
5) My wife understanding that the addiction to fishing is a serious affliction that can be successfully treated through a lifetime of frequent visits to the Reservoirs.
See you all on the water...
Merry Christmas!
Well done, Walt.
Well done, Walt.
1. Humminbird side-imaging.
1. Humminbird side-imaging.
2. Leak-free boat. I have a leak somewhere and I absolutely cannot find it!! I hate a drop of water in my boat let alone gallons, ARRRRGHHH!!
3. For my latest HOT lure to be as successful in 2013 MRA Tourneys as it has been over my last 2 Winter outings.
4. For my fish to stay in the same spot I find in practice all the way to tourney day!
5. That the price of tungsten would equal to the price of dirt.
6. A 40mph electric boat that only I have access to.
Merry Christmas to all!
Can't find the leak?
Can't find the leak?
Ian, I had the same problem with a leak. I just couldn't find it. Turned out I was over tourquing my drain plug, thinking that if tight is good, very tight is better. I think the plug was distorting when I made it too tight. One day I put the drain plug in without twisting quite so tight. Miraculously, I no longer had 2 gallons of water in the boat at the end of the day. No leaks since! I hope this helps
Walt, if that works you can
Walt, if that works you can expect a "tipster" award, tks! If not, my plan is in early spring to resist a day/weekend on the water and rip everything out of my boat including batteries and coat the inside floor of my boat with this material called HERCULINER. It's crazy, a couple of weeks ago I showed up at Prettyboy ramp with no rods. Solely, to find this leak. I put the boat in the water and pulled the plug and let about 2" fill the entire boat. I then pulled the boat out and put the plug back in. I took a towel to dry the bottom of the boat. Then I crawled underneath looking for dripping water ... NOTHING! Completely dry. So, the only thing I can figure is the leak is where the boat is sitting on the bunks, therefore, when the boat is resting on the bunks the weight of the boat is sealing the hole. ??? I dont know but I frequently lose sleep over the whole situation and I MUST get it fixed.
If you have a riveted hull,
If you have a riveted hull, and there are rivets in the hull, on top the bunks, It is entirely possible that some of those rivets were damaged or sheared off after lauching your boat countless times. The bunks would block those rivet holes when the boat is on the trailer. However, I still like the plug idea. Do you pull your plug after every trip? If so, when was it replaced last.
I definitely think the rivets
I definitely think the rivets are the problem. I'm leaning against the plug only because once I launch the boat I walk to the back of the boat and look at the plug area and it is completely dry and when I am back there a little water comes trickling forward toward the plug from under my deck. Tks, Walt.
I had a leak on my Grizzly. I
I had a leak on my Grizzly. I bought it used and the first thing I did was tear everything out, put in the battery box and float it checking for leaks and balance. I put everything back in and started fishing with it. I noticed that i was getting a few gallons of water every trip. I filled it up with six inches of water and none leaked out. I thought it was coming in the bow eye when underway. It wasn't. I was looking through an access hole while underway and finally found it. The boat is welded and on the corner where the side and bottom meet there is an extruded piece of aluminum that is hollow. The water would go into the hollow trim while underway and slosh into the boat periodically. When i stopped suddenly all of the water from the trim would rush into the boat. I was able to fix it by reaching through the access hole and putting a dab of silicon in the end of the trim. I have never had another drop in the boat on a calm dry day.
