I'm writting to see what kinds of luck other people are having with new interstate batteries. We just purchased 12 batteries These were the U2400 for our new boat about 2 1/2 years ago. We lost 2 of them in early Dec. last year. This year we have 2 more that are not coming up. I'm not getting much of an answer from the Interstae rep. as to why these didn't hold up. My last set lasted about 5 1/2 years. Calling and taliking to Battery Warehouse, they offer a 2 year warranty and a 10% discount if you purchase a full set at one time, these are the Exide 135. Interstate is only 1 year, and no discount for a new fresh set. Any information good or bad about the Exide batteries?? I'm not sure I want to go back to Interstate to hear another raft of SH** because I have another battery that failed.

Thanks, Fishinfever

My last set of Excides lasted

Permalink Submitted by zwseemm on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 07:48.

My last set of Excides lasted 7 years of heavy use. Now battery warehouse doesnt sell Excide labeled batteries. They sell Excide manufactured batteries that arent labeled as Excide. I was told by an 'expert' that they use a little bit cheaper lead in them. I have a set that is going on year 3 without any issues. I think mine are GC 145.

I have Interstate 2300s now..

Permalink Submitted by David.Kirk on Mon, 04/09/2012 - 07:49.

I have Interstate 2300s now.. I bought mine in frederick... i have 4 years on them, so this is my 5th year...no problems at all...I have used Exide in the past, with no problems...and they lasted many years... check your water constantly and put batteries on charger as soon as you get home... heat will kill/destroy batteries.. so try to keep your boat stored out of the sunlight in the summer....and when on the water and you notice the batteries are becoming weak.. cut back on the trottle....

All good stuff. Nothing new

Permalink Submitted by tcgordon on Thu, 05/17/2012 - 20:28.

All good stuff. Nothing new really to say. I have always used exide (135 or 145) and on all sets have always used them for 5-6 and really then they didnt have to be replaced. The battery care - keeping them charged, sufficient water, checking terminal connections regularly, etc. is critical.

Go Fish Yourself! <'')))>< ...Respectfully.

My INTERSTATES are date-coded

Permalink Submitted by 8plusW8 on Sat, 01/12/2013 - 08:10.

A pic says it all . . . My INTERSTATES are date-coded 3/12. So they are less than 1 year old. This is my 1st time experiencing with INTERSTATES. I went to charge my batteries the other day and my charger wouldn't come on. At the beginning of my troubleshoot I began to jiggle some wiring and jumpers looking for a loose connection. I came across 1 wire that when I jiggled it I noticed the whole battery post moving, UH-OH! So, I started to jiggle that wire a bit more and what you see in the pic is what I found. Obviously, with the batteries being less than a year old I was not happy. So, I went to where I purchased the batteries from and after a "little" kickback INTERSTATE did eventually replace my battery.
