A lot of today's soft plastics are impregnated with salt, to make the bait taste more natural to the fish. This allows the fish to "hold" the bait longer thus giving you more time to set the hook. However salt is corrosive, especially when water and moisture come in to play. This can wreak havoc on your hooks or any other metal items in close proximity. We all know the damage that saltwater does to equipment if not properly cared for. Storing plastics sealed in airtight packages separately from hooks in your tackle box will keep corrosion at bay. At the end of the day be sure to take the soft plastic lure off of the hook before putting the rod back in your rod locker. Good Luck.
