Another tip to possibly catch more fish is paying close attention to your surroundings, do you see deer feeding along the shoreline, squirrels scampering about, maybe a increase in birds singing. These could be signs of peak feeding activity. Especially on tough days this very important. Water birds wading along the shore indicate the presence of baitfish . Seagulls diving to pick off the remains of a feeding frenzy. Sometimes you may see baitfish flicking out of the water and if you are prepared to cast to that location you should be able to catch that fish. Some days one more fish can make a good day great. Good Luck.
To build on Bob's message...
As your awareness becomes acute, you will be able to identify feeding icons of various fishes and often what the are feeding upon.
Minnows airborn in the shallows is a tell for both black bass.
Surface swirls typically mean emerging insects...often yellow perch.
Crack (a sharp sucking sound) is how sun fishes take bugs.
Whenever the surface is alive...it says something. Perch and carp feeding on the surface will often have bass below them on or near bottom. Likely because there is a current stream that is a food delivery mechanism.
Glad to see that you signed on. Any knowledge that can help the fisherman whether beginner or experienced is always welcome. I believe that helping others can also help the resources that we enjoy so much. Thanks again.
