With temperatures expected to be near 50, I decided to make my last trip of the year to Prettyboy. I launched at 8:00 am and headed north of Beckleysville bridge. Water temp was 39 degrees and slightly stained. I started looking for bait and fish on my depth finders, hoping to find it in 25-40 ft.but to no avail. So I moved out deeper and found most bait holding in 65ft. Well I'm not comfortable fishing that deep so back to my comfort zone 20-35ft. Bouncing from point to point as well as steep banks still not reading fish but casting anyway. Then I decide to fish the flats in Hoffmanville in front of the foundation and the grass throwing my go to 5" worm, still no takers. After about 45 minutes, back to the silver buddy pattern. Winter fishing can be tough! Oh well I guess I'll ride around and drain my batteries. 1:00 I decide to head back to the ramp still with out even a bite. 1:45 I see a downed tree across from the boat ramp, determined not to zero out on the last day I make a cast with my trusty worm--------- tick! Set the hook and a 2 1/2 lb largemouth swims from the cover and then in to the boat!! No Zero! what a great way to end the season. March 1st is right around the corner.
Who hacked into Bobby's account and told this lie. "IF" this is "Bobby"....don't you mean "20-35inches"?
I should clarify, comfort zone for the presentation and time of year. You know I would much rather fish 12-18 FTW. Where all of the small fish roam. Lol
FTW? (Um, some guys might read that wrong, lol) I think you mean FOW-Feet Of Water.
.............but I could be wrong?
Also, have confidence in that "FOW" zone, Bob. I would bet a paycheck that 12-18 is where MOST tourneys are won and where MOST BIG FISH come from.
**And yes I do get paychecks now. Soooo, before you go there! hahaha
Ok Ian you got me on that one lol. But maybe I meant " For The Win" !! See you on the water.
